About me

Hi, I'm Annika, and I'm so happy you've found your way to my little creative space.

I've been making things for as long as I can remember. I sewed my first shirt when I was 11 years old, with the help of my mum, and I've been passionate about sewing ever since. I studied fashion in high school, where my love of sewing and garment making continued to grow. What I loved most was the ability to create clothing exactly the way I wanted it to look—something unique and personal.

After highschool, I followed my second passion and spent time travelling and skiing around the world. While working at a ski school in Austria, I met my partner. He was from Australia, which explains how we eventually found ourselves living Down Under.

Inbetween ski seasons , I spent a year working at a local sewing factory in my hometown, knowing that gaining industry experience would be invaluable. At Aspens Sewing Factory, I learned to operate a wide range of industrial machines and gained insight into the entire manufacturing process, from fabric production through to the finished garment leaving the factory.

We finally settled in Sydney, where I studied pattern making and pattern construction at East Sydney TAFE in the evenings. Around the same time, I secured a job making samples for a small designer in Paddington. That designer was Collette Dinnigan, I worked for Collette in the design room for 12 years.

I loved working in the design room. It was often a whirlwind as we prepared collections for fashion shows in Paris and Australia, but it was an incredibly rewarding experience. The talented people I had the privilege of working alongside and the knowledge I gained during those years are things I remain deeply grateful for.

As our little family grew, it was time for a change of pace, and we moved to Yackandandah in North East Victoria—a cute little town with a rich gold-mining history.

After being away from the fashion industry for a while, I did some freelance work locally for a fabric designer and discovered the world of indie sewing patterns. As a self-confessed pattern nerd, I immediately felt inspired. I realised I could turn my favourite designs into PDF sewing patterns and share them with other makers while reconnecting with the industry I loved so much.

And that's how I ended up here.

Thank you for being part of the journey.
